Tour around town!
Those interested in further exploring the sites sites around Malone that were important to the Wilder family can now do so on a guided tour with Jim Lusk. Jim has been a volunteer and guide at the Wilder Homestead for several years– many of you have likely enjoyed his tours of the farm! .
Jim’s background and interest stems from his love and teaching of history and involvement as Civil War reenactor. He has worked for several national parks presenting living history programs, and has a love of all things related to Laura Ingalls Wilder. He has visited all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder historic sites and has studied the Ingalls and Wilder families for over 30 years. A tour would last about an hour and will include the sites of the 2 schools (Skeelsboro and Brainardsville Road), the Franklin County Fairgrounds, Morningside Cemetery and sites of Wilder graves, Centenary Methodist Church – where Almanzo attended, “My Sister and I” gift shop site, site of Franklin Academy, and the train station.
