Essay Contest Winners awarded for 2019
The winners of the annual essay contest were announced at the Almanzo Wilder Farm’s Celebration of Youth event on July 20th. Honorary Laura for 2019 is Angelina Polniaszek of Rouses Point. Honorary Almanzo for 2019 is Isaiah Kingsley Of Brushton-Moira Elementray School. First alternates are Sophie Caitlin from Flanders Elementary School in Malone and Hayden Schad from Rouses Point Elementary School. Second alternates are OlivIa Kirk and George Chaney, both from Rouses Point Elementary School.
Artists were invited to participate in the tenth annual show – a showcase of regional artists’ two dimensional works with relationship to the life of the Wilders at the time they lived at the homestead in Burke, NY (1840-1875). First place was awarded to Anne Ray for her pastel painting, Recess. Second place was earned by Rick Auger and his photograph, The Wilders. Lisa Minnich’s 1860’s Sleigh Ride was the winner of the People’s Choice award.
